Abstract
D-statcom is one of the key FACTS controllers. This paper shows us a role of D-statcom used for voltage sag mitigation of three phase induction motor. The model of D-statcom has been implemented in Matlab/Simulink software. In this paper the capability of D-statcom to compensate reactive power to system voltage, when voltage sag occurs was described. This paper also gives brief introduction of voltage sag problems, characteristics, basic structure and operation of D-statcom. Phase control thyrister (SCR) based voltage source converter (VSC) is used for this application. In this test we can observe the behaviour of the system during voltage sag caused by DOL starting of three phase induction motor. This model is firstly run without D-statcom and then with D-statcom. The results obtained in both tests are compared and analyzed.
