Abstract
In the contemporary systems of communication, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have become one of the most up-and-coming trends. In the design of WSNs, routing is of utmost importance. Several commonly used routing metrics include the minimum hop, minimum energy consumed per packet, maximum energy capacity, maximum minimum energy capacity, maximum time required to partition the network, minimum variance in the power level of the node, the quality of service(QoS) and the robustness. The chief responsibility of the Network Layer is to find paths from data source to the sink and this process of establishing the paths from the source to the sink across one or more relays is called Routing. But, the energy in wireless sensor networks is restricted, thus it is challenging to increase the sensor node’s life while preserving the overall performance of the network. Due to increased mobility of the network sensor nodes may cause the depletion of energy, so, there arises a need for effective-energy conserving wireless routing protocols.
