This work describes the fiber optic setup used for sensing free chlorine by a polymer based chlorine sensor. Free chlorine is prepared using free chlorine tool kit and measured using DR2800 Spectrophotometer. A polymeric cyanuric acid is designed and synthesized for measuring free chlorine. The sensor membrane prepared it would not leach out by continuous exposure to sample solution sand also it has good photochemical stability. The sensor membrane is placed on the core of the fiber. The light intensity passing through the fiber cable changes according to the different free chlorine sample applied to the sensor. The use of chlorine is to reduce the water borne diseases also it should protect the public health for the microbiological pathogens. The experiment is conducted with various free chlorine samples prepared. Response time, calibration curve and absorbance curve are also experimentally studied and obtained.
